You do get the sense that the fallout of Roger's death and the Roger pirates disbanding not so much traumatized Buggy and Shanks indifferent ways but instead generated such drastically different reactions to the trauma.

While the trauma of everything seemed to push Shanks into the future, always constantly waiting for something, putting plans on hold and then later in place, for this great moment, this great coming that he sees on the Horizon. For Buggy it rooted him firmly in the past keeping him trapped in this grief masquerading as anger.

While Roger's death forced Shanks to grow up fast, it kind of arrested Buggy's development keeping him stuck in those same feelings, rooted int that same place.

You get the sense that Buggy's whole east blue schtick is just one long overdue rebellious phase one big fuck you to Roger and his ideals. He's rebelling against Roger's principles. One of their rules was don't steal from innocent people and Buggy was keeping a whole town in poverty. If Roger and Luffy's pirating styles are diametrically opposed to someone like Blackbeard, who might be the most literal pirate in the entire series, then buggy is the parody of that Blackbeard piratism. He is playing up cruelty, being the most piratey pirate possible, hell he's literally a clown on a stage. It's all a show! It's his own special way of trying to "get back at Roger" of trying to discard everything Roger taught him for this overacted, over exaggerated clownish cruelty. Mentally he never left that execution square. He is still 15, alone and scared.

Hell he literally never left either, while I'm pretty sure Shanks' booked it out of the east blue as fast as he could, Buggy never lef, might have never left, if not for Luffy. It's part of why Luffy bothers him so much, he's just like Roger everything that Buggy is trying hard to forget and here comes this kid, whose never even met the Captain but is wearing his hat, shoving it right back in his face.

It makes sense that he never leaves the east blue till Luffy literally forces him out of it (fucking with Luffy gets him captured and imprisoned) and it makes sense that it's Luffy that literally breaks him out of prison, literally sets him free, and on the path to greatness that maybe he was always meant to achieve (even if he trips his way into it). This boy that is tragically so much like his old captain but so beautifully unabashedly himself, is what Buggy needs to start letting go off the past, to start trying to move forward.

Maybe that's why Buggy, at what could arguably be described as his lowest moment, gets the strength to free himself from his own self imprisonment, realizing that even back then he was locking himself away and pinning his own dreams on Shanks. And, maybe for the first time ever, Buggy really own his dream. He declares to his tormentors and his crew and the entire world that; actually He wants to find the one piece, him, as captain of his own crew, this crew, not just a part of someone else's. That's his dream and he's willing to turn the world upside down to do it.

Something something Ace always complaining that meat on the Moby is overcooked and everyone else always yelling at him -- he's allowed to eat blue steak but every time he tries to steal bites of pork or poultry or sea king or whatever while it's still raw and bleeding he gets physically thrown out of the kitchen.

Something something a bunch of Ace's division getting into a confrontation with the law and a marine gets a lucky shot in, manages to get sea stone cuffs on Ace's wrists, and since he can't punch and he can't use his fire and his men are in danger Ace just lunges and tears the man's throat out with his teeth.

Ace killing three more men that way, lock-jawed and snarling, thrashing like a crocodile and tearing through flesh and tendon until body-warm blood spurts free from arteries.

Ace spitting out a mouthful of trachea. Ace turning to look at his friends with blood splattered all the way up to his forehead and dripping down his chin, his chest. Ace grinning and licking his red, red teeth.

"Everybody okay?" Ace says. And then "Whew! Man, that made me hungry. Anybody got the keys to -- oh, thank you!" And then "Hey, lets get cleaned up and then head back to that barbecue place before we head out. Suddenly I'm really craving pork."

Lol but fr hello i finally finished all 4 chibi sprites. Here s more of them

I wanna make intro posts for them soon, but i think i ll do that when i finish their sekai fits fullbody drawings. For now here s some basic info bout em under the cut:

Group of outcasts and troublemakers somehow end up in eachothers lives and start making music together, to convey the feelings they can't vocalise.

Mayumi - He's an aloof boy that doesn't listen to anyone and is difficult to converse with due to his weird, roundabout way of conversing with people, if he replies to you at all. He loves fashion and music, spends a lot of time trying out different instruments but he has an electric guitar at home that he plays often. Oh and he usually wears his hair behind his ears and no band aid, but he has a lot of piercings and doesn't wanna get in trouble at school, because it'd be a nuisance.

Ayase - Ray of sunshine that won't stop can't stop- but despite being so friendly and easy to get along with, he doesn't seem to have many friends. He always gets in trouble for breaking the unform code.

Haru - Transfer student with infinite confidence that doesn't back down from a fight. He's chill for the most part, as he doesn't really speak, ever- but if you try to fuck with him you will regret it. Got expelled from his previous school for various things like skipping class very often, breaking uniform code, fighting students and teachers, and generally being a menace.

Yuuta - World's largest chiuwawa. Is scared of everything and everyone, and has a stutter. He doesn't actually attend school irl, his anxiety turning him into a shut in- but in his free time he loves going around town and doing grafitti. He makes double triple sure nobody will see him though, because if he gets caught he will probably combust and die. Grafitti is the only thing that's worth the anxiety to him though.

Their whole story as a group is finding reasons to keep trying- as all of them have given up, in one way or another.

I think shattered glass Transformers One would look like Orion being kind of evil from the start, plotting a forcible takeover (since he's very impulsive in the movie I think he would have long plots going on here) and D-16 being just fine with that for a while, like they were both good/lawful aligned in the beginning of the movie but then Orion starts going actually bonkers (enacting his plan and going through with all the bits D was like so that's neat to think about but we wouldn't actually do that, right, and Orion agreed but didn't mean it) and D is like hm. You know what actually I think that maybe we should calm down a little bit? And gradually picking up character development there as he realizes dang, taking all those things we thought up to the logical extreme would be bad, actually, and Orion just goes hey the world should burn and I will rule over the ashes wouldn't that be fun? Won't you join me?

These panels always get me feeling things because Law was given the angle to lie--all he had to say was the Strawhats were his subordinates and the Marines would leave them alone. It was called to attention for the readers too, through Caesar pointing it out. If he wanted to betray the Strawhats here, it would've been the perfect opportunity with an Admiral arresting them.

However, Law didn't lie and confirmed the alliance to be true. He also made sure to emphasize that the Strawhats and him are equals.

(I also checked the raw scans for this and Law says "麦わら" (mugiwara) which is up for interpretation: he could be referring to Luffy here unlike Fujitora who referred the Strawhats as a group "麦わらの一味" (mugiwara no ichimi). It's a small detail and Luffy is the captain of the Strawhats so it's association, either way.)

It's insane to stumble on discussions years ago about Law possibly betraying the Strawhats because this happened and instead of saving his hide, Law decided to buy some time for them.
